In the wake of Hurricane Irma, a powerful wave of unity rolled across Florida—led by an unexpected but passionate force: the skating community.

Skaters from Florida’s East Coast sprang into action, quickly organizing donation drives filled with food, water, clothing, hygiene essentials, and household goods. Their mission was fueled by more than generosity—it was about showing up for their extended skater family and neighbors on the West Coast who were deeply impacted by the storm.

Within just one week, that determination turned into real movement. Volunteers loaded up three full vehicles and made the journey to areas just north of Bonita Springs, joining others who had also come to lend a hand. Together, they transformed an empty lot into a vibrant relief hub filled with support, compassion, and connection.

But they didn’t stop at supplies. Bringing along a grill, the group cooked and served hot meals throughout the day—offering not only nourishment, but comfort, warmth, and a reminder that no one was facing this alone.

While the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma was undeniable, so was the spirit of community that rose in response. In a time of uncertainty, the skating community proved that when people come together with purpose and heart, even the smallest acts can make a powerful impact.
